London, June 24 (ANI): Britain's Sex and the City generation - women between 25 and 40 -are more likely to have 30 pairs of heels than a retirement plan, according to a new research. 

According to a poll by insurer Friends Provident, some 27 per cent of women in the age group of 25 to 45 years have more than 30 pairs of heels while only 23 per cent have personal pensions.

The study found that 41 per cent prefer to spend their money on fashion, beauty and nights out over investing for their future.

Like their TV and movie heroines, many of the singletons interviewed had high-flying, well-paid jobs.

But while almost half of these women had put aside less than 200 pounds last year, a third were spending 50 pounds a month on clothes and accessories, while one in four spent 200 pounds or more each year pampering themselves with costly beauty treatments

However, with the economy taking a turn for the worse, many of them are now being forced to tighten their designer belts for the first time.

The survey also found that one in five women are relying on a character like Sex And The City's Mr Big to provide their future financial stability.

The research suggests almost one million women are banking on landing a rich man to take care of them.

"Many women are spending too much on the day-to-day, not investing enough in the future via savings or pensions, and not putting enough effort into managing their careers," The Sun quoted The Friends Provident report, as stating.

Friends Provident spokesman Christine O'Grady warned: "The Sex And The City generation is playing a dangerous game and gambling with the future." (ANI)
