Dhaka, Aug 30 (ANI): The ninth Home Secretary level talks between India and Bangladesh will begin here today.

The Indian delegation will be headed by the Union Home Secretary, Madhukar Gupta and the Bangladesh delegation by their Secretary, Ministry of Home Affair, Mohammad Abdul Karim.

The meeting is expected to discuss various security related issues, border management issues as well as ways of enhancing cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of both sides.

During the two-day deliberations, New Delhi is likely to give Dhaka evidence on the involvement of Bangladesh-based outfits like HuJI and its nationals in terror acts, including Hyderabad blasts, and seek action against them.

Issues like smuggling of arms, ammunition and fake Indian currency along the porus Indo-Bangla border and ways to tackle such crimes will also be discussed.

The last meeting was held at Delhi on August 2-3, 2007.

These meetings are part of the institutional mechanism set up in 1993 to resolve various issues of mutual concern.

Apart from the Home Secretary level talks, DG level meetings between BSF and BDR are held twice a year.

In the run up to Home Secretary level talks, DG level talks between BSF and BDR were held at Dhaka on August 20-25. After the last Home Secretary level talks, the mechanism of the Joint Working Group at the level of Joint Secretary has been revived. The meeting of this Group was held in New Delhi on May 28-29, 2008. (ANI)
