New Delhi, August 29 (ANI): The Centre has provided all required assistance to the Bihar Government to deal with the flood situation in the State, Home Ministry spokesperson said.

The Government of India has deployed four Army columns, five helicopters, 118 boats and 624 National Defence Reserve Fleet (NDRF) personnel. And four more army columns are also being deployed today. 1.25 lakh metric tonnes of foodgrains has been allocated to the State.

Earlier, on Thursday, 3732 tents and one lakh water bottles have been sent to Bihar. The Government is organizing more tents and boats. The Ministry of Health is organizing supply of two crore Halogen tablets. The National Crisis Management Committee headed by the Cabinet Secretary reviewed the flood situation in Bihar today.

On the advice of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Relief Commissioners of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Orissa have instructed the concerned District Magistrates of the districts neighbouring Bihar, to provide boats as per the requirement of the State Government.

The Prime Minister alongwith the Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Union Home Minister, Railway Minister and Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers made an aerial survey and reviewed the flood situation on Thursday.

As announced by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, an amount of Rs.1000 crore from the National Calamity Contingency Fund was released by the Government today to Bihar.

Ministry of Railways have issued sanction for transportation of relief material, fodder by rail from any station to notified flood affected districts of Bihar for distribution in the affected areas.

Officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Control Room of the Ministry are in constant touch with the State Government and monitoring the situation round the clock. (ANI)
