London, June 20 (ANI): Feeling down in the dumps? Well, then fly off to Bristol, for the city has officially been named the happiest place to live in the country.

This south-west port was also named Britain’s first “cycling city” in a 100million pounds Government scheme to encourage greener transport.

The survey indicated that nearly one third of those living in Bristol are extremely happy with their life, with almost 10 percent saying that they are totally satisfied at work.

A new survey of 2,000 Britons, carried out by bakers Mr Kipling, has placed Wolverhampton at the second position, closely followed by York, Plymouth and Sheffield.

“Bristol is obviously the place to liven your spirits. It’s home to a lively city centre and is surrounded by beautiful countryside,” The Daily Star quoted a spokesman of Mr Kipling, as saying.

Almost one in five people in Wolverhampton are pleased with their family life.

The findings of the poll revealed that almost 50 percent of Britons are happy with life in general, and only six per cent reported to be completely miserable. While 48 percent said that they are satisfied with their social life, 67 per cent insisted being content with their friends and family.

The title of the unhappiest city went to Newcastle upon Tyne, with one fourth of its people unsatisfied with their social life.

At the second last position was Cardiff, followed by Birmingham, Swansea and Leeds. (ANI)
