MONDAY, May 19, (News Locale) - Kolkata Night Riders franchise owner Shah Rukh Khan's troubles with being barred from sitting in the dugout with his team appear to be solved - for the moment that is.
The Indian Premier League has decided to issue accreditation badges that would allow at least one member of the franchise owner's team to have unhindered access to their team's dressing room and dug out during a match.
Shah Rukh Khan was peeved when he was barred from his team's dug out by Anti Corruption Unit officials of the International Cricket Council. The incident occurred in the Knight Riders' game against the Chennai Super Kings at Eden Gardens Kolkata.
IPL Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modi revealed that the tournament was being conducted under the aegis of the ICC and as such relevant ruled would be followed. "A red badge issued by the ACU, on approval of the team manager, will help the person holding it access to all areas," he added.
Earlier SRK had said he was unaware of rulers barring him from mingling with team members, "I’ll tell only one thing. Nobody dare stop me from coming to Calcutta. I’ll be here whenever my team plays a match at the Eden," he stressed.
SRK is one of the two Bollywood personalities associated with the immensely successful IPL competition. Bollywood actress Priety Zinta is the co-owner of the Mohali Kings of Punjab franchise.
Top corporate bosses like Vijay Mallya and Mukesh Ambani also have teams in the fray. the IPL is nearing the end of the round robin fixtures with four teams expected to make it through to the semi finals, Unfortunately SRK's Knight Riders have a tough task on hand especially after their loss to Chennai Super Kings yesterday.
