At a function organized at his official residence, C.M. Madhu Koda presented him with a Toyota Corolla and cash cheque of Rs. 5 lakhs on behalf of his government. Captain Dhoni accepted the car but presented the cash amount to the chief minister’s relief fund.

Dhoni was being felicitated for having returned to India after leading Team India to victory in the 20x 20 World Cup in South Africa last month. Lady luck has been smiling on Dhoni ever since he scored 148 against Pakistan in Vishakpatnam in 2005 which is the highest scored by an Indian wicket keeper batsman against Pakistan. It was s followed by a smashing 183 not out against Sri Lanka.

Dhoni’s rising rankings in Cricket ratings have translated into higher endorsement and advertising deals. In fact the I.T department has revealed that he is the highest individual taxpayer in Jharkhand having deposited Rs. 73 lakh till now and is expected to cough up around 4 crore by 2007-08.

Earlier Dhoni had created a sensation at the function by turning up without his trademark long locks. He said that he was giving up his three year old hairstyle for a new one just for a change.

Speaking to media Dhoni expressed concern that his team was facing a grueling season ahead with the impending three tests and five -match limited- over series with Pakistan and barely 5 days later, will leave for a series down under against Australia.

 The Indian selectors declared that they were happy with Dhoni’s captaincy. They will pick a squad for One day internationals against the Pak team on October 26 0r 27 during the Challenger trophy in Ahmedabad.
