FRIDAY, Mar 14, (News Locale) - Mahendra Singh Dhoni has more money that he will ever need by his own admission. However that has not stopped the Indian One-Day skipper from seeking to complete his graduation by securing a Bachelor of Commerce degree from St Xavier's College in Ranchi.
On a mini-break after the sizzling triumph in the Commonwealth Bank series Down Under, Dhoni wasted no time in letting it be known that he wants to graduate under the sports quota. For all youngsters wanting to make it big through shortcuts, Dhoni's move is a telling lesson.
For the 26-year-old has no need for an education; having earned massive amounts of money by his talent as a cricketer. It is a simple calculation that he will earn even more during his career.
Nicholas Tete, the principal of St Xaviers College said Dhoni wanted to complete his graduation and that the college had started the process. However he added that the Indian skipper would probably have to go the distance mode given the compact schedule of cricket matches throughout the year.
There are some formalities though. The Jharkhand Academic Council must ratify the decision to admit Dhoni, while permission must also be secured from Ranchi University. Dhoni is seeking to get admission through the sports quota.
Dhoni will next feature in the upcoming Test series against South Africa due to begin March 26.
