FRIDAY, Feb 15, (News Locale) - Mac users in India are in store for a treat after Apple Computers unveiled the world's thinnest notebook, MacBook Air Notebook, at a press conference in Mumbai.

Powered by 1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, the notebook is fitted with a 13.3-inch LED-backlit widescreen display along with a backlit keyboard and an inbuilt web camera. Other features include a 2GB memory, 4MB l2 cache and a 80GB hard disk drive.

Weighing around 1.36 Kgs, MacBook Air is just 0.16 inches wide with a height of 0.76 inches. The notebook can also support 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and has the Leopard OSX pre installed along with iLife ‘08 and iMovie software.

Priced at a hefty Rs 96, 100, the notebook includes the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, Bluetooth connectivity and has a battery back up of 5 hours. Users have the option of choosing a 64GB solid-state disk (SSD) drive and the MacBook Air SuperDrive for a price of Rs 5,500.

Apple Product Marketing Manager, Portables and Wireless, Asia Pacific, Angeline Tan recommended users to buy the external device since it will eliminate the need of a power adapter.

"Powered by a USB port, the external drive eliminates the need to carry a separate power adapter. There is no need for an optical drive now that the users can wirelessly backup files with time capsule and access the optical drives on remote PCS to wirelessly install software applications on MacBook Air", Tan added.

The MacBook Air was first launched by Apple at the MacWorld expo in San Francisco on January 15.
