For the first time in India, Sony Computer Entertainment India (SCEI) has introduced the new 40 GB PlayStation3 and the sleek and light PSP with video out facility at an expo organized at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai. The impressive expo included seven gaming zones – Sports Zone, Speed Zone, Action Zone, Shooting Range, Gaming Dungeon, Buzz World and Sing Star Centre Stage.

While Sony presented a multitude of games that comprised the PSP Spiderman specialty pack, PSP Simpsons specialty pack and three new games for PS3, SCEI country manager Atindriya Bose promised three more new games for PSP soon. According to Bose, although Sony aims to offer the PlayStation experience to the gamers, this event particularly aimed at launching new models of their gaming products. He said that a few weeks ago, the company had announced the launch of the 40GB PS3 in December, now they promise the launch of the 40GB PS3 in India.

While stating that the new 40 GB PlayStation3 will cost Rs. 24, 900, Bose opined that gaming will soon increasingly become the most accepted form of entertainment in the country and hence the company thought this to be the appropriate time to launch the new products. According to company sources, the PlayStation enjoys 60 percent market share among all the gaming consoles in India.

The new Sing Star Bollywood is, however, an advanced version of the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system with a range of exciting activities designed to attract the consumers’ interest. This product will enable people to create their own little reality show contests in the convenience of their home with loved ones and the audiences can view them on a giant screen.
