Following the amazing success of Fifa 07, Electronic Arts announced the first few details of its hugely awaited Fifa 08 game, with the most important snippet being the return of the series back onto consoles.
EA revealed that Fifa 08 will be shipped for all the leading consoles including Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Wii, Nintendo DS, PC and mobile phones. The game will be developed by EA Canada. The California-based games publisher also announced Brazilian ace Ronaldinho as the face on the cover when the game is released later this year.
Ronaldinho is accompanied by a host of big names in football world, who will be featuring on the covers of the regional markets. The list of players include Miroslav Klose for Germany, Sergio Ramos for Spain, Andreas Ivanschitz in Austria, Tranquillo Barnetta in Switzerland. The French version of the game will feature Florent Malouda and Frank Ribery along with Ronaldinho.
Joe Booth, senior producer for FIFA 08, revealed that Ronaldinho, Klose, Ramos, Barnetta and Ivanschitz will provide motion capture of body movements, individual moves and playing style, which will then be digitalized to provide realistic movements of the players in the game.
"We are proud to call some of the world's best football athletes our partners. The access, guidance and insight they give us means that FIFA 08 will create a next-gen experience that not only looks authentic, but that captures the emotion, finesse and beauty of the game", Booth said.
