RCom, CanvasM Team Up For Mobile Gaming Print E-mail

MONDAY, Feb 18, (News Locale) - Mobile gaming in India received a huge boost when Reliance Communications, in partnership with CanvasM Technologies announced the launch of multiplayer mobile games for Reliance customers in the country.

Using the service, gamers will be able to link up with other mobile or PC gamers who are playing the same game at that time and compete against each other. Other featured provided by the service include creating profiles, posting individual scores, in-game chat, lobby chat and inviting other gamers for a match up.

Announcing the service, Reliance Communications president for Applications, Solutions and Content Group, Mr Mahesh Prasad said, "Mobile gaming is definitely a fast growing sector and is expected to catch up with the developed markets. Reliance’s launch of multiplayer mobile games is another step in this direction and we are quite confident that it will generate a huge interest from our mobile customers, especially the gaming audience."

CanvasM Technologies, which is a joint venture carried out by Motorola and Tech Mahindra, will be responsible for bringing in a number of domestic and international multiplayer games. The company has so far developed 15 cross media multiplayer games and is now expected to expand its catalog.

CanvasM Technologies CEO, Jagdish Mitra said that multiplayer games on mobiles have a huge potential and his company is pleased to work with Reliance Communications in bringing new technologies to the Indian market.

Reliance users can access the service and download the games from R World and will be charged a monthly fee of Rs 99 for three games with unlimited playing hours.

Multi-player mobile games (MMGs) are the incoming thing in the mobile arena allowing gamers to play with other users who are playing the same game within the same network.
