FRIDAY, April 4, (News Locale) - The "Growing Together 2008" conference in Johannesburg saw mobile maker Nokia make inroads into another market as the Finnish giant unveiled four new "affordable" handsets aimed primarily at replacement buyers.

With the launch of the four handsets, Nokia 2680, Nokia 1680 Classic, Nokia 7070 Prism and Nokia 5000, the company will be hoping to provide fresh impetus to sluggish sales both in Europe and in North America. The four handsets cost in the range of 50-90 euros and offer regular features including FM radio and music players.

The Nokia 1680 Classic is being touted as one of the most affordable handsets to come in the market in recent years with the phone expected to be priced as low as 50 euros. Apart from the basic mobile phone functionality, the 1680 Classic offers one touch mode for videos and images, phone sharing functionality, email accessibility and a basic VGA camera.

Coming at a similar price range is the Nokia 7070 Prism whose new folding design includes geometric patterns throughout the body and features external light effects. Other features include a hands free speaker, MP3 ringtones, voice recorder and personalized themes and wallpapers.

Expected to be priced at 75 euros, the Nokia 2680 will be the cheapest of the four new handsets to feature slider facility with an inbuilt camera. The 2680 will offer an expanded phonebook along with MP3 ringtones and FM radio with recorder capability.

The Nokia 5000 is expected to be the most expensive of the four handsets and comes with a 1.3 mega pixels camera along with the usual features including MP3 ringtones and FM radio. The 5000 also has a QVGA high resolution display and features the Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging, GPRS connectivity and Bluetooth facility.

Nokia revealed that all the four handsets will be available by the third quarter of this year.
