Apple Computers has sent out a strong warning to iTunes fans who are clamoring to upgrade their computers, iTunes music software does not work on Microsoft Vista. The San Jose, California-based company has said that though iTunes may work on some computers, it has some known compatibility problems with Vista including one where songs purchased on iTunes store may not play. Apple warned that users may corrupt their iPods if they use it with Vista and the only way to be safe is to eject it from Windows using iTunes. It added that if the users try to remove iPod from the system using the computer's "Safely Remove Hardware" option, the product will get corrupted. Apple added that it is currently working on the problems and a new updated version of the software will be available "in the next few weeks".
Some iTunes users have reported that they can run the software without any problems by right-clicking on the iTunes.exe program and changing the compatibility of the software by clicking "Run This Program As An Administrator." Contrary to Microsoft's claims that a large number of hardware and software products were compatible with Vista, iPod became the second victim of the operating system after Microsoft's own portable music player, Zune had faced compatibility issues with Vista when the OS was released in November. However the company has addressed the issue.
