MONDAY, July 14, (News Locale) - Hollywood's golden couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie welcomed their twins; a boy and a girl on Saturday, July 12. Jolie's gynecologist, Dr. Michel Sussmann confirmed the birth in a news conference and said the kids and their mother were doing fine.
The doctor also said Pitt was at her side when Jolie gave birth at the Lenval hospital located on the Promenade des Anglais waterfront drive in Nice. Angelina had the delivery by C-section under epidural anesthesia.
Media reports had earlier indicated the twins were going to be delivered on Tuesday, but apparently a medical reason forced doctors to pre-pone the event.
The boy named Knox Leon weighed 2.28 kg and arrived first, while his sister Vivienne Marcheline, weighed 2.27 kg and arrived minutes later.
The twins are Pitt and Jolie's second and third biological kids after the birth of Shiloh Nouvel in 2006. The couple has also adopted three other kids named Maddox, Pax and Zahara.
Pitt and Jolie are known to shun media frenzy and have leased a villain Provence, France for three years. Even the birth of Shiloh was away from the media glare in Namibia.
The couple is also known to bestow unusual names on their children, but Knox was Pitt's maternal grandfather's middle name, while Vivienne's middle name, Marcheline is thought to be derived from Jolie's late mother.
Angelina Jolie is expected to be discharged from the hospital in a few days time.
