SATURDAY, August 9, (News Locale) - Akshay Kumar's magnum opus Sing is Kinng is all set to smash box office records for opening week collections. The Akki-Katrina Kaif starrer has opened to rave reviews in India, the UK and even the US.
The film, which tells the story of comic happenings in the life of Happy Singh aka Akki has been lapped up by the audiences so much so that trade pundits are predicting it will break the opening week record set by SRK-starrer Om Shanti Om.
The Farah Khan directed OSO had fetched Rs 40 crores during its first week. Initially it was speculated Sing is Kinng would overtake collection records set by Race and Akki's own Welcome. However with packed houses as well as hugely positive reviews, Singh is Kinng is set to be India's best grosser in the opening week.
The large NRI community also seems to have taken to the movie as Sing is Kinng opened on the 3rd spot in the UK. The story is no great shakes, but the dialogue delivery and the presence of Akshay Kumar seems to have tilted the balance for the film.
With Om Puri and Sonu Sood also getting a much-deserved fillip for their roles in the film, it appears Singh is Kinng is a winner for all concerned - at least the average cinema goer seems to think so!
