Universal Pictures won the bidding war for the script of "Nottingham", which will have Russell Crowe play a good guy as the Sheriff of Nottingham. Other studios involved in the bidding were Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, DreamWorks Pictures and Columbia Pictures. Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris, who are credited with the cable series "Sleeper Cell," are the script writers of this project. Both will reportedly receive seven-figure compensation for the film, which is to portray the Sheriff as investigating murders in which the main suspect is Robin Hood. It is reported that Bryan Singer, Sam Raimi and Ridley Scott are all interested in directing the film although no definite arrangements were revealed. Screenwriter Ethan Reiff elaborated on the script on Variety, "He's trying to do the right thing but he's up against Robin Hood, who's becoming heroic while not necessarily acting in the nicest way," he said. Russell Crowe will be apparently paid $20 million and a 20 percent backend for the movie. Crowe is a serious kind of actor and already has an Oscar on his portfolio. He won the Best Actor Oscar for Gladiator in 2000.
