Celebrity site TMZ.com reports that Smith's funeral was attended by 300 guests who wore a pink flower. The color was Anna Nicole's favorite. The Mount Horeb Baptist church in Nassau was the site of a memorial service attended by her former boyfriend Larry Birkhead, companion Howard K Stern and her mother Virgie Arthur.

Smith's casket was draped in a pink blanket and was carried on a red carpet to the chapel. Her body was dressed in beaded gown and tiara. It was reported that all assembled guests would write a note each, which would be placed next to her body.

Additional contents of the casket included the ashes of late oil magnate J Howard Marshall, who married Smith when he was 89 and she was 26. He died 14 months later and left behind a fortune for which his son and Anna Nicole battled in court.

Earlier Judge Larry Seidlin had ruled that Smith's funeral would take place as planned and that she should be buried next to her son at the Lake View cemetery in Nassau.
