Popular Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has been issued a non bailable warrant by a local Indore court today for disregarding its order to appear before it to face a case of allegedly disrespecting the National flag along with three others.

Aamir Khan who is brand ambassador for Toyota brand of cars in India had attended the opening of a showroom on August 16 last year. A certain lawyer Shailendra Sharma had filed a petition against Aamir and others claiming that the National flag had been disrespected at that function. According to him, the flag had remained draped on a car even after evening and thereafter removed in a derogatory manner. According to law, the flag is supposed to fly half mast in the evening.

The lawyer had filed a case against Aamir and three other organizers (including car dealers Rakesh and Ashok Rajpal) of the function on the pretext of violation of section 2 of the prevention of insult to the National honor Act of 1971.The court issued a bailable warrant against the accused but they did not respond to the summons of the court and did not appear before the court. Hence the non bailable warrant against the four now.

Judicial Magistrate First Class, BS Muvel dismissed a plea by Aamir Khan’s lawyers that he was not aware of the developments in the case and as a result had failed to respond to the three earlier summonses by the court. The Magistrate instead issued a non-bailable warrant against Aamir and the three others and asked the police to produce them on November 7th.

Aamir is caught in the middle of another case, albeit a family issue in a Mumbai court. This case is being set to determine whether his brother Faisal Khan is suffering from a mental condition called paranoid schizophrenia and needs mental treatment or Aamir and his mother and sisters are mistreating him. Altogether Aamir has two legal tangles to face in the offing.
