Spartan reign over the box office continued as Warner Bros battle epic, raked in over $100 million in just a week since its release. Disney's Wild Hogs and the Sandra Bullock-starrer Premonition came in second and third.
300 collected $31.2 million for the second weekend, taking its grand total to $127.5 million in just over a week after the release. The film tells the story of 300 Spartan soldiers, vastly outnumbered by a million Persian invaders, who successfully bought time for the Greek alliance to prepare for the assault against the Persians. The film was made on a budget of $65 million and stars Scottish actor Gerard Butler as the king of the Sparta.
The film fared well overseas, collecting over $15.6 million in 13 countries. The total collections from the overseas market pushed up to $24.6 million, with $7 million from Greece.
Disney's comedy film, Wild Hogs, also had a good weekend, collecting $18.8 million to remain on the second spot. Sandra Bullock's paranormal thriller Premonition took third place, collecting $18 million on the opening weekend. Columbia Pictures was hoping that the film would open around the mid-teens.
