WEDNESDAY, Mar 12, (News Locale) - The problem of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has acquired massive proportions in hospitals worldwide. In order to prevent the spread of this superbug infection, health authorities advocated screening of patients for MRSA.

MONDAY, Mar 10, (News Locale) - Wyeth Pharmaceuticals suffered a reverse in the Little Rock breast cancer case when a federal jury said the drug company was liable to the tune of $19.3 million. Furthermore the jury also ordered Upjohn to pay $7.7 million to Donna Scroggin, who developed breast cancer after taking hormone-replacement therapy.

MONDAY, Mar 10, (News Locale) - A nationwide investigation conducted in the United States by The Associated Press has found trace amounts of pharmaceutical medicines in the country's water supply. The drinking water supplied to almost 41 million Americans on a monthly basis was found to contain trace amounts of drugs like mood stabilizers, sex hormones, antibiotics as well as anticonvulsant drugs.

SUNDAY, Mar 9, (News Locale) - The dreaded H5N1 virus once again reared its ugly head in West Bengal with health authorities reporting fresh cases of bird flu in two villages in Murshidabad district. The fresh outbreak occurred just days after the West Bengal government had officially lifted the ban on chicken sales following the country's worst ever outbreak of the disease.
