Sydney, Sept 28 (ANI): People who frequent online sex, fetish and swinging sites have "alarmingly high" rates of depression, anxiety and stress, says a shocking new research. What's more, people who seek out cyber sex typically devote hours a day to the covert activity, the study found. The Australian research also revealed that overwhelmingly male, well-educated, and aged anywhere from 18 to 80 indulge in such kind of 'pleasure'. They spend an average of just over 12 hours on the sites each week - mostly chatting, participating in cyber sex with webcams, downloading video and images, or sending erotic emails, the study found. The research revealed that more than 65 per cent of the 1325 American and Australian men surveyed said they had met someone off line that they had first encountered online. Marcus Squirrell, a doctoral student at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, said the study, to be presented at a major psychology conference tomorrow, was the first to paint a full picture of cyber sex surfers. Most concerning was the high rate of poor mental health among the sample group. "We found that 27 per cent of them were moderate to severely depressed on the standard depression scales," Sydney Morning Herald quoted Squirrell, as saying. "Thirty per cent had high levels of anxiety and 35 per cent were moderately to severely stressed, which is of course extremely high," Squirrell added. The more heavily they engaged in online sexual activity the higher their level of depression and anxiety was, he said. (ANI)

London, Oct 3 (ANI): A new way of avoiding embarrassing situations has been discovered in an underwear fabric that absorbs all smells. The underwear, which has been developed in the US, is said to neutralise smelly gases and prevent awkward moments, the Sun reported. The material works by being inserted into a pair of pants, which then traps any pongs. The "gas neutralisers" are made from carbon fabric and two self-adhesive strips secure them in place. The fabric, called Subtle Butt, does not silence any noise that might accompany any whiff. (ANI)

Washington, Oct 7 (ANI): Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner has slammed rumours that his girlfriends Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson are leaving him. The 82-year-old tycoon has said that the reports of the break up are nothing but hearsay, insisting that it's all made up. "It's all rumors without question. We have just completed our fifth season (of "Girls Next Door") and we're all still together and have just signed on to a sixth season, which we start filming in the new year," Fox News quoted Hefner, as saying. He added: "There may be some transitions to the relationships though, we'll see." The Playboy camp and the girlfriends themselves have denied the claims, but still it is believed that the "transitions" might indicate the recruitment of some fresh set of faces. "There have been a lot of new girls on the scene and big changes are happening. Holly, Bridget and Kendra have made no secret of the fact they want to get married and have babies and they aren't getting any younger," said a source. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Kendra was recently spotted at Aura Nightclub in The Bahamas, along with fellow Playmate Brittany Binger. (ANI)

Lahore, Oct 13 (ANI): Senior PML-N leader and former Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan could not afford further turmoil (in the country) and that the government must resolve the issue of terrorism "through dialogue". He said, "the new government had "legitimized"ome of the former government's policies instead of reversing them", and added that the prevalent crises in the country could have been resolved if President Asif Zardari had honoured his commitments with the PML-N. Sharif said this while addressing a party gathering here last evening to mark October 12 as the 'Defence of Democracy Day' to condemn the PML-N's ouster from government in 1999 coup. Nawaz said former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf must be held answerable to the parliament for his 'unconstitutional steps'. "The nation has to block the path of military dictatorship forever," the Daily Times quoted him as saying. He asked the new government to form national consensus policies instead of following those of the Musharraf regime, which, he blamed for "terrorism and unemployment". Pakistan was 'holding the begging bowl' because of the former regime's policies, he said and added that it was a critical time of Pakistan, and the government must deliver. (ANI)

London, Aug 27 (ANI): The daughter of troubled football star Paul Gascoigne, Bianca Gascoigne, is worried that stepdad Gazza could be crippled for life because he has missed vital hospital appointments during his boozy sessions. The one-time football idol is in desperate need of another hip operation, the Daily Star quoted Bianca, as saying. And she is so worried for his health that she fears he may never be able to walk again. The telly star told how Gazza, 41, who has been her father since she was three, is jeopardising his future health. "He has got his hips out of place at the moment. He has even got to have an operation on his hip which he skipped but he's having it done soon," she said. Gazza has missed important check-ups for his newly replaced hips after going off the rails in recent weeks, following his rocker pals Iron Maiden on their European tour. The Daily Star discovered him holed up in hotel rooms across Eastern Europe and slumped in the back of tour buses, unable even to open his eyes. Bianca, who is at home with mum Sheryl, 42, has told pals that if Gazza keeps ignoring the problem with his hips then he could be in a wheelchair for ever. It was Gazza's first hip operation last Christmas that sent the fallen star into such severe depression earlier this year, after he was told he would never kick a ball again. He hit the bottle and his downfall began. Gazza spent months on the booze and became a recluse. Earlier this year he was sectioned and then had three weeks of treatment in a psychiatric hospital. But soon after being released, he was caught trying to drown himself in the bath of a London hotel. He then checked into The Priory, and ex-wife Sheryl offered him a lifeline when she comforted him during the 100,000-pound two-month stint in rehab. (ANI)
